Obituary for Andrew Kasselik
Andrew Kasselik Nov. 13, 1923 - Nov. 23, 2010 Andrew Kasselik passed away at his home in Brookings on November 23, 2010. He was 87. Andrew was born November 13, 1923 in Budapest, Hungary to Andras and Baroness Erzebet (Demeny) Kasselik. Andrew earned a Master's Degree in Engineering at the University in Technology in Stuttgart, Germany. He also attended and graduated from Heidelberg University in Germany and University for World Trade in Vienna, Austria. Andrew was President of the Hungarian Academy Association in Vienna, Austria. Andrew was active in the US and German space programs including working with Rockwell International, NASA's Marshal Sace Flight Center and in Germany's Ministry of Science and Technology in cooperation with NASA's Office of International Affairs program. His worked earned him the Apollo Achievement Award from NASA. Andrew later started his own import/export surgical supply company, Amfor. Following that, Andrew finished his career with Allied Signal in Hawthorne, CA, retiring as a Senior Design Engineer in 1990. He married Verena Huber in New York City on January 23, 1954. Following retirement, he and Verena moved to Brookings. Andrew enjoyed traveling, air gliding, sport car rallies, boating, biking, fencing, tennis and good classical music. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Verena of Brookings. Andrew was preceded in death by a brother. No public ceremony will be held.
