Obituary for Amy Holsapple
Amy Holsapple, 97, passed away at her home in Brookings on July 4, 2014. Amy was born February 1, 1917 in Larson, North Dakota, one of ten children to Gunder and Mary (Carlson) Gunderson. In her early years, Amy worked as a nanny and housekeeper. She married Leonard J. Holsapple in Brainard, Minn. on October 2, 1939. They moved to Chester, Calif. where Amy worked in a local grocery store. She retired in 1979. Following retirement, she and Leonard traveled all over the US and Canada. Amy enjoyed rock and agate hunting, doing handwork and loved to read. She was also a wonderful baker – she made the best apple pie. Survivors include her daughters, Florence Savercool of Brookings, Joy Larson of Yakima, Wash., son and daughter-in-law, Lester and Sharon Holsapple of Missoula, Mont., six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Amy was preceded in death by her husband, six brothers and three sisters. No local ceremony will be held. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Chester Cemetery in Chester, Calif. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
