She was born January 5th, 1920 in Pana, Illinois, to Bernard Joseph Boyle and Cleata Mae Kindred Boyle. Shirley married her high school sweetheart in Springfield, Illinois on October 3rd, 1941.
After working the family farm in Edinburg, Illinois the family relocated to Tampa, Florida in 1955. Shirley and Tom raised three children Polly, Barbara and Steve. After 15 years in Florida, Shirley and Tom moved to the Pacific coast community of Aptos, CA for a few years before settling into the lovely Brookings community.
Shirley loved her Eggers Road neighborhood birthday gatherings, her local TOPS chapter and was a proud participating member of the Unitarian Fellowship. She was a strong vocal activist for the social issues she believed in and made sure she had her say in the local newspaper.
