Obituary for Mary Gertrude Isakson
Mary Gertrude (Smeenge) Isakson, a resident of Brookings, Oregon passed away on March 6, 2018 in Brookings. She was 92. Mary was born in Holland, Michigan on October 2, 1925 to Guy Terbeek Smeenge and Gertrude (Van Der Havel) Smeenge.
Mary was an artist and was President of Pelican Bay Art Association. She also drove for meals on wheels. Family and being a Mom were important to her.
She lived in Michigan from her birth until 1949 and moved to El Monte, California from 1949 to 1954, Arcadia, CA from 1954 to 1964, Temple City, CA from 1964 to 1988, West Covina, CA from 1988 to 1996, Brookings, OR from 1996 to 2004, Pleasanton, CA from 2004 to 2006 and Brookings, OR from 2006 until her passing in 2018.
Mary is survived by her daughter Mary Bell of Brookings; a brother; James Guy Smeenge of Zellwood, Florida; four grandchildren: Guy Rheuark, Alex Rheuark, Katherine Rheuark, Charles Rheuark and one great-grandchild; Aurora Rose Tombs.
Mary was preceded in death by husbands Charles Bell, Robert MacMinn and Stan Isakson, her brother Coral Neal Louis Smeenge, and a sister Georgia May Gallup.
