May 15, 1924 – May 14, 2018

Long-time Brookings resident, Erma Maxine Fritz, passed away peacefully at home on May 14, 2018. She was born May 15, 1924 at Baker, Oregon to Edward F. and Lilly D. (Schuster) Myers. The family lived at Baker until Erma was 7 years old and moved to Brookings in 1931.
Erma was a woman of many talents. Her hands were often busy knitting or crocheting, and she made many pine-needle baskets. She loved to walk and enjoyed traveling and going on cruises with her family. She especially enjoyed going through the Panama Canal. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents Edward & Lilly Myers; husbands Don Whirry and Herbert Fritz; sisters Mildred Raymond, Margarette Matson and Nellie White; brothers Lawrence, Gerald and James “Jack” Myers, and grandson Jeremiah Harrell. She is survived by daughter Donna Herrick (Leo) of San Martin, California; son Darrell Whirry (Beth) and daughter Doreen Harrell (J. Allen) of Brookings; son Bill Fritz (Judy) of Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

The family will hold a private memorial service, and Erma will be laid to rest at W.J. Ward Memorial Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, PO Box 1199, Brookings, OR 97415.
