Obituary for Dane Alan Ross
Dane Alan Ross
Dec. 11, 1980-Jan. 15, 2017

Dane Alan Ross was born Dec.11, 1980, in Arcata, California to parents Jerry and Becky Ross and sister Alyson.

Our family was blessed with Dane four years and two days after his sister — so many wonderful combined birthday and sleepover birthday parties ensued from the closeness of their birth dates throughout his childhood.

Dane and his family moved to Gold Beach in 1982, before his second birthday.

He attended all years of school in Gold Beach making many close friends that became family to him. He played sports throughout school: baseball, football, basketball, golf. He was named after a major league baseball player that his parents had the pleasure of going to high school with, and he thought that was to be his sport, but his true love was golf. He loved the game, the golf courses and most of all the people he golfed with. He was Cedar Bend Golf Club champion for two consecutive years in 2014 and 2015. These wins gave him the opportunity to golf in the Oregon Golf Association Tournament of Champions both years.

After high school graduation, Dane moved to Klamath Falls with his friend Josh to attend Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) and study business management and marketing. After a few years, he transferred to Western Oregon College. He moved back to Gold Beach to work and help his dad coach basketball.

Dane worked at South Coast Lumber, Jerry’s Rogue Jets, Jot’s Resort, Riverview Restaurant and, most recently, as a chef at Spinner’s Restaurant. He worked hard and enjoyed everyone he worked with. Dane enjoyed cooking and would often come home from work or spend his days off cooking special meals to share with his family.

Besides cooking and golfing, Dane also loved fishing, his Jeep and his dog, Chai.

The fondest memories of Dane are thinking of his smile, laugh and love that he openly shared with everyone. He was a good, special person with a kind heart. He was a wonderful uncle. He always had a hug for his friends and family and was always willing and able to crack a joke or give someone a bad time, all in fun. Dane, you will be greatly missed, leaving a hole in all our hearts. Our comfort will come from knowing you are in Heaven as an angel looking out for all of us, and we will be with you again someday.

Dane leaves behind his parents; sister and brother-in-law Alyson and Kacey Kennedy; nieces and nephews Addison Miles, Gabrielle and Hudson; aunts and uncles Connie and Ron Totton, Ron and Inez Ross, Kevin Ross and Kendra Daijogo, Don Bandoni, Brent Lemons, David and Dorothy Lemons, Blake Lemons, Cindi and Dave Stinson, Kelli Bergstrom, Mary Lemons, Don and Bev Lemons, and Kathy Howard; grandmothers Donnie Bergstrom and Jean Lemons and many, many cousins.

Dane’s service will be at 2 p.m. today (Jan. 21) at the First Baptist Church, 29755 Turner St., Gold Beach.

Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family. Condolences may be expressed online at www.redwoodmemorial.net.
